Wear glasses? Meta's VR Glasses will take prescription inserts, sold separately. That's close to everything Meta has said so far.

So this page sticks to what's confirmed, what Zenni's inserts for the Quest can tell us and what you can sort out now, months before the glasses go on sale.

Note

Meta's glasses go on sale in spring 2027, and the inserts aren't on sale yet. This page uses Meta's product page and developer docs, Zenni's store and hands-on reports, all checked November 4, 2026. We'll add the range and price the day they're out.

The short answer

Plan on prescription inserts or contacts. Meta will sell inserts made by Zenni, but there's no price, range or order date yet. If you wear contacts comfortably, you're covered on day one.

What's confirmed

  • Inserts are coming. Meta's product page says you can add a prescription with inserts, sold separately.
  • Zenni makes them. Road to VR reports the inserts come through Meta's partner, Zenni Optical. Engadget's hands-on confirms small inserts exist.
  • Your eyes are set one at a time. The lenses slide from 56 to 70 mm, and you adjust each eye on its own.

Not confirmed yet: the price, the prescription range, astigmatism support, when you can order and whether glasses fit underneath.

Can you wear your glasses inside?

Meta hasn't said, and it hasn't mentioned a spacer for glasses, the way some headsets include one.

Even if your frames fit, Meta's developer docs point to a downside. The farther your eyes sit from the lenses, the less of the picture you see, especially top to bottom. With a view that's already narrower than a Quest's, you don't want to lose more.

That's different from Meta's own headset. The Quest 3 comes with a glasses spacer, and so does Valve's Steam Frame.

What Zenni's Quest inserts tell us

Zenni already makes Meta's official inserts for the Quest 3 and 3S. The glasses will need their own, but the Quest versions give a fair idea of what to expect:

Zenni's Quest inserts
Price$49.99 at Meta's store
CoatingsAnti-fog or oil-resistant
Lens typesSingle vision only. No readers, bifocals or progressives.
Paying with HSA or FSAYes, for prescription inserts
Returns at ZenniRefund within 2 weeks of delivery, store credit within 30 days

One more lesson: Zenni's Quest 3 inserts and Quest 3S inserts don't fit each other. So don't buy Quest inserts hoping they'll work in the glasses.

Zenni doesn't list a prescription range on its Quest page. If your prescription is strong, wait for the glasses' range before you count on inserts.

What to sort out now

  1. Get a current prescription. Inserts are made to order, and Zenni only refunds for 2 weeks after delivery. An out-of-date prescription is an expensive mistake.
  2. Make sure it lists your PD. Two numbers, one per eye, is best, since you'll set each lens separately. Our size and field of view guide explains how to measure it.
  3. Check your lens type. Zenni's VR inserts are single vision. If you wear progressives or bifocals, ask your optometrist which single-vision prescription to use for a screen at a set distance.
  4. Try contacts, if they work for you. They'll work on day one, with nothing to order.
  5. Note your benefits. Zenni takes HSA and FSA cards and vision insurance for its Quest inserts. If that carries over, check your plan's rules before you order.

Once they're on sale

When Zenni's inserts for the glasses go on sale, the order form should look a lot like an eyeglasses order. Have these ready:

  • Sphere (SPH) for each eye. A minus sign means nearsighted, a plus means farsighted.
  • Cylinder (CYL) and Axis, if you have astigmatism. They always come as a pair.
  • PD, one number or two.

Lay your prescription next to the screen and copy it line by line. The right eye, OD, usually comes first.
