About WornXR

WornXR helps you find AR glasses that work with your phone, laptop or handheld, then set them up. Here's what we cover and who's behind it.

AR glasses are great once they work. Getting there is the tricky part. Some phones can't send video over USB-C. The Switch 2 needs a dock. Some features only work through an app.

WornXR sorts that out, device by device. Tell us what you've got, and we'll show you which glasses work, what else you need and how to set it all up.

What you'll find here

What we cover

  • Display glasses that plug into a phone, laptop, console or handheld. Think XREAL, VITURE and RayNeo.
  • Puck-powered XR glasses, like the XREAL Aura, that run apps from a small computer you carry.
  • Ultralight VR goggles, like the Bigscreen Beyond 2e.
  • Full VR headsets, like the Meta Quest 3, but only for comparison.

What we skip

Smart glasses with no screen, like Ray-Ban Meta. They're fun, but there's no display to set up, and plenty of other sites already cover them.

Who's behind WornXR

WornXR is written by Cole, our editor and tester.

Cole got into display glasses for a simple reason: with three small kids at home, the TV is always taken. Now glasses are how Cole watches, plays and explores light VR, without leaving the family room. WornXR shares what Cole learns along the way, so you can skip the trial and error.

There's more on Cole's author page.

Our sister site: heldgames

WornXR's sister site is heldgames, all about retro handheld gaming. Over there, you'll find a guide to the best AR glasses for retro handhelds. Here, we go deeper on glasses and setups for every kind of device. The two sites link to each other, and each one writes its own pages.
