XREAL 1 Pro+ vs XREAL 1S: what $150 more gets you
The XREAL 1 Pro+ costs $599 and the 1S costs $449. Here's what the extra $150 buys, where the cheaper 1S wins and how to pick for your setup.
XREAL sells two pairs that look a lot alike on paper. The 1 Pro+ is $599. The 1S is $449. Both run on XREAL's X1 chip, both can pin a screen in place without an app, and both plug into a phone, laptop or handheld over USB-C. So what does the extra $150 actually get you?
Note
We haven't tested either pair yet. This comparison uses XREAL's spec sheets, manuals and US store, checked November 4, 2026.
The short version
Get the 1 Pro+ if you want the brightest picture XREAL makes, a wider view and smoother 3D. Get the 1S if you game on a Steam Deck, read a lot of text or would rather keep $150 for accessories.

What the extra $150 buys
More brightness. XREAL rates the 1 Pro+ at up to 1,200 nits. That's its maximum perceived brightness, with AI HDR on, in Follow mode with the Stabilizer off. With AI HDR off, the top is 1,000 nits. The 1S peaks at 700. One catch: pin the 1 Pro+'s screen in Anchor mode and it drops to 10 brightness levels with a lower top end. XREAL doesn't say how low.
AI HDR. This 1 Pro+ setting stretches brightness and detail in what you watch. The 1S's menu doesn't list it. It only works with 60 Hz or 90 Hz input, though. It also can't run alongside UltraWide, 3D, Side View or Reading mode. Whichever you turn on last wins.
A wider view. XREAL lists a 57° field of view for the 1 Pro+ and 52° for the 1S. At the same distance, the 1 Pro+ draws a bigger screen. XREAL puts its range at about 34 to 556 inches, against 31 to 500 for the 1S.
Smoother 3D. Both pairs can turn regular 2D video and games into 3D right on the glasses. XREAL says the 1 Pro+ does it at 60 fps. Gaming Nexus's 1 Pro+ review says 60 fps is coming to the 1S too, but XREAL hasn't given a date.
Two frame sizes. The 1 Pro+ comes in M, for 57 to 66 mm between your pupils, or L, for 66 to 75 mm. The 1S comes in one size, and its IPD setting covers 59.5 to 70.5 mm. If your number falls outside that, the 1 Pro+ is the safer fit. Our XREAL size guide shows how to measure.
A new nose pad. MIXED says the 1 Pro+'s nose pad has a larger contact area. XREAL says it holds the glasses steadier and keeps the whole picture in view.
Where the 1S wins
Price. $449 against $599. That $150 covers the $99 XREAL Eye with money left over, or a set of prescription lenses.
A taller screen. The 1S shows 1920×1200 per eye, a 16:10 shape. The 1 Pro+ is 1920×1080, the 16:9 shape of a TV. Those extra 120 rows of pixels help with documents, code and long web pages.
Steam Deck. The Deck's own screen is 16:10 as well, so the 1S matches it. That's why it's our pick in the Steam Deck guide.
What's the same
- Tracking. Both have 3DoF built in, so you can anchor the screen or let it follow your head. Add the $99 XREAL Eye to either one for 6DoF, where the screen stays fixed in your room.
- Lens dimming. Both have three tint levels, plus an Auto Transparency setting.
- Refresh rate. Both run at 90 Hz, up to 120 Hz.
- Sound. Bose-tuned speakers and four mics on each.
- Prescription lenses. XREAL's lenses for both cost $49.90 to $69.90 and cover -10.00 to +4.00. XREAL says 1S lenses fit the 1 Pro+, so if you start with a 1S and upgrade later, your lenses come with you. Here's how 1 Pro+ lenses work.
- Power. Neither has a battery. They draw power from whatever you plug them into.
Things to know before you buy
- Weight. XREAL lists the 1S at 82 g. It hasn't published a weight for the 1 Pro+. The One Pro, which uses the same size screens, weighs 87 g.
- Consoles need extra gear. A PS5 or Xbox can't plug straight into either pair. Here's how to connect XREAL glasses to a console.
- Features arrive in updates. XREAL keeps adding to both pairs through firmware. Our XREAL firmware log tracks what each update changes.

The 1 Pro+ is the better screen. It's brighter, wider and smoother in 3D, and its two sizes cover a wider range of eyes. The 1S is the better deal if you play on a Steam Deck, live in documents or would rather spend that $150 on an Eye or lenses.
